As Remote Lawyers Handle More Admin Tasks, Firms Discover Support Inefficiencies
More lawyers are piling administrative tasks on their plates as they work remotely. But inefficiencies and a modernizing profession may require a different long-term solution.

More lawyers are taking a hands-on approach to more administrative matters, including time entry, opening new matters and case management as they continue to remotely work.
"There seems to be a sizable amount of attorneys that feel they're having to do more admin work in this environment," said HBR Consulting client development vice president Christopher Ryan.
Still, remote attorneys are keeping their complaints about performing those administrative tasks to a minimum, according to law firm executives and consultants. But as lawyers handle more of their time and billing and other admin tasks, firms are noticing administrative support shortcomings and inefficiencies.
