Everlaw wants to make it crystal clear to everyone that it's expanding from its original e-discovery focus and becoming a tech provider for the entire legal lifecycle. How serious is Everlaw trying to grow its scope? It's offering its post-discovery, litigation prep software Storybuilder by Everlaw for free starting today.

Everlaw said providing Storybuilder for free was necessary to expand real-time collaboration tools to legal clinics, law school students, pro bono lawyers and others that wouldn't otherwise have the resources to purchase the software. "For us, our vision is to build this end-to-end litigation platform that spans the entire lifecycle and ecosystem," said Everlaw CEO and co-founder AJ Shankar.

Everlaw is the latest legal tech company expanding its services to the entire spectrum of litigation. Litera, for example, announced on Tuesday it purchased Foundation Software Group to segue into law firm data analysis, a departure from Litera's original contract and document-centric focus.
