Behind every successful legal tech implementation and unintentional data breach there’s an organizational norm or disruption that fueled those human decisions. That’s how culture psychologist Caitlin Handron, who recently joined Ropes & Gray’s R&G Insights Lab as a senior lab consultant and behavioral scientist, looks to help clients understand how employees impact their corporate risks.

Ropes & Gray launched its consulting arm in 2020 to combine data analytics and behavioral science to the firm’s legal advisory work. Handron, who was previously a research scientist at Stanford University, said the legal world is still learning to accept behavioral sciences’ role in legal matters. But to her, the two fields are extremely intertwined.
