In the wake of the pandemic, many states relaxed continuing legal education rules to allow lawyers to more easily complete their CLE obligations. State measures included waiving the in-person requirements and allowing all online-based CLE courses.

As the country eases COVID-related restrictions, many states said it was still too soon to tell if those CLE changes would continue post-pandemic. However, at least one state is exploring if digital CLEs should be extended indefinitely and if online-based interactions were detrimental to professional growth.
