Roughly 32% of legal tech founders are diverse, a 6% increase from 2018, according to a study released by Paladin founder and COO Kristen Sonday in January. While that represents a step forward, legal tech founders said continuing inequalities in and out the tech sector will keep many diverse entrepreneurs out of the legal tech industry.

To be sure, legal tech’s diversity challenges are only a reflection of the broader tech market’s and law firms’ well-known diversity issues, some legal tech founders noted.
