Growing up isn't for wimps. While alternative legal service providers (ALSPs) have emerged as a viable and budget-friendly pathway for high-volume, process-centric legal work, there's still a challenge or two they have to iron out on their growth journey. Expanding the number of services offered, for example, can build favor with clients but also require a significant and costly investment in technology and human capital. And there's not even the guarantee that burgeoning service areas such as IP management will pay off, given how reluctant firms may be to relinquish control over sensitive client information.
