The global pandemic and the 'remote migration' of the workplace accelerated the adoption of software tools that have enabled virtual collaboration and optimized the way legal teams work and engage.

Working patterns have, however, continued to evolve and workforces have become even more complex and dispersed. Operational efficiency is now a number one priority among a third of legal departments (Legal Operations Benchmarking Report). With it comes the need to achieve transparency and certainty. 'Seamless' collaboration has become a key target and we are, therefore, seeing a renewed focus on collaborative functionality amongst many legal technology tools.

From our discussions with general counsels, legal operations professionals and in-house lawyers over the past 18 months, there are some key trends emerging which legal technology vendors are working hard to address.
