If 2021 was the year of increased legal tech funding and corresponding M&A explosion, we couldn't end the year without one more large deal: legal services and e-discovery provider Consilio has announced Tuesday that it has acquired fellow legal services provider Legility.

Legility specializes in a host of legal services, including flexible talent (the company was previously known as Counsel on Call), investigation and litigation support, and e-discovery services. Legility itself had also previously been on the buyer's end of mergers and acquistions activity in the e-discovery space, acquiring Inventus in 2020 and iControlESI in 2019.

For Consilio, the acquisition allows the company to "build upon a proven platform delivering a complete legal services experience across a spectrum of client needs worldwide," it said in a press release. In particular, it noted Legility's European capabilities and solutions as a key piece it didn't already have in-house.
