Another year of pandemic disruptions and surprises has left much of the economy in a different state than it was in early 2020. But for the e-discovery market, for all that changed, even more stayed the same.

According to eDiscovery Today's "2022 State of the Industry Report," the trajectory of the e-discovery market is largely the same, with many still expecting more consolidation and the expansion of e-discovery providers into other industries such as information governance. The challenges facing the market also largely continue to be unchanged: a growing deluge of collaboration data and a legal market that is lacking in e-discovery competence.

The report is based on a survey of 281 legal professionals involved in e-discovery, around 40% of whom work at e-discovery service providers, while around 28% came from law firms and the rest from consultancies, legal departments and government agencies.
