If companies thought federal and state regulators would be the only ones enforcing consumer data privacy compliance, Apple’s looming app deletion mandate is a reminder of just how vital privacy laws will be in the coming years.

By June 30, every app in Apple’s iOS AppStore must have a “built-in deletion” feature that is easy to find and complies with local data retention laws, according to Apple’s company notice.
