On Wednesday, legal technology software company Litera announced that it is acquiring cloud-based business intelligence (BI) provider BigSquare for an undisclosed sum.

The aim of the acquisition is to layer in BigSquare's software, which analyzes financial data for law firms, into Litera's AI-powered document management system, so users can have a visual dashboard of their financial insights, according to the press release.

The acquisition would allow BigSquare to scale and expand the reach of its legal analytics. In the long run, the BI provider hopes to reach Litera's users by providing data insights to Litera's Foundation tool, pricing analytics from Clocktimizer, and its marketing intelligence Concep tool.
