For law firms of all sizes, the risks associated with data loss or mismanagement have never been greater. Ongoing education and training around cybersecurity threats help to prevent data breaches, and more attention on information governance is allowing firms to improve compliance around their data management. But even with that, many remain at risk of critical data losses caused by system failures, theft and device loss or damage.

Large firms with large IT budgets have effectively removed their risk of lost, stolen or broken computers by replacing their traditional PCs with virtual desktops, thanks to software vendors like Citrix and VMware. But the sophisticated software and high-powered servers required have also traditionally demanded a substantial investment. This has kept virtual desktop solutions mostly out of reach for smaller firms with more modest budgets.
