Litigation is ever evolving; it’s one notable segment of legal which is increasingly being brought in-house, with many corporates reporting that a shifting economic climate, coupled with the growth of legal ops, is leading to the creation of new roles, from Heads of Litigation to Global Disputes Managers. Litigation teams are expanding, naturally more so within the larger FTSE 100 companies, whose contentious workload is both progressively diverse and voluminous.  With this transition, comes the need to recalibrate existing workflows and workspaces for in-house teams.

As with all transitional phases, structure and processes can take some time to form, whilst needs and objectives are realigned. By analogy with the CLM market—now saturated with various platforms and tools—it can take time to pull together in-house with external counsel using the right resources and technology.
