Legal Tech Rundown: New ILTA Partnership, Everlaw's Evolving Identity, and More
An update on the legal tech market's past few weeks, from product launches to new tech integrations.

At Legaltech News, we always try to bring you the latest news on hirings, product and feature releases, new integrations, legal tech M&As and more. The Legal Tech Rundown is a periodic update of legal tech stories that might have fallen under the radar in the past few weeks.
|- CASEPeer and LawPay Integration: Practice management provider CASEpeer, which was built for personal injury law firms, announced its integration with digital payment platform LawPay on Jan. 10. To be sure, this isn't LawPay's first connection with a case management platform. In June 2022, LawPay's parent company AffiniPay acquired MyCase, integrating the digital payment solution with the case management platform.
- Agiloft: Contract life cycle management (CLM) provider Agiloft announced the launch of Agiloft University on Jan. 12. The feature's curriculum is meant to train users to become "contract operations pros" by teaching them to configure their CLM systems, automate reporting, increase adoption and improve security and compliance, according to the press release. Ultimately, upon passing the course, administrators will become "Agiloft certified" within their organizations.
- AbacusNext: Practice management provider AbacusNext announced a few executive hires on Jan. 12. Former BusinessLover chief technology officer Greg Reynolds joined the company as its new CTO, while former GoodRx senior vice president of finance Arik Moav became AbacusNext's chief financial officer. Additionally, James O'Connell-Cooper, former marketing leader at Xero, took on the role of senior vice president of marketing.
- Aderant: Business management software provider Aderant announced it partnered with legal management consulting firm Fireman & Company for a product launch on Jan. 12. Using the consulting firm's network of intranets, Aderant's Handshake platform now will include an extension called Handshake ConnectX. The extension can be deployed to speed up the creation of firm intranets, and can be leveraged as an enhancement for existing Handshake customers or "as a full replacement of a firm's legacy intranet," according to the press release.
- Everlaw: On Jan. 10, E-discovery provider Everlaw announced it closed an enterprise contract with the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), worth up to $10.6 million spread over five years. The DOI is set to use Everlaw's technology to modernize its e-discovery support, as well as streamline its Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request processing.
- Evisort: On Jan. 17, contract life cycle management (CLM) platform Evisort announced a new brand identity, reflecting a future of "connected data" and generative AI-focused contract management. While the provider will not change its name, the new identity is set to usher in a new era of generative AI technology for the company as the novel technology is gaining traction in various industries.
- International Legal Technology Association (ILTA): The legal technology directory Legaltech Hub, led by CEO Nicola Shaver and Jeroen Plink, joined ILTA as a business partner on Jan. 10. The partnership is set to grant ILTA members free access to the entire Legaltech Hub directory, consisting of 2,000 products and services, according to the press release. ILTA CEO Joy Heath Rush stated in the release: "The legal technology marketplace has never been more dynamic. Having access to Legaltech Hub's robust directory, taxonomy, and search will allow our members to find the providers that best fit their rapidly evolving needs."
- LiquidText Enterprise: Document analysis platform LiquidText launched the Enterprise Edition of its product on Jan. 11. The new edition is designed for larger deployments and includes an option to integrate with other document management platforms, along with enhanced privacy and security features, according to the press release. The Enterprise Edition is currently priced at $20 per seat per month, with select discounts for large deployments.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

Amy O. Bruchs and Kurt F. Ellison of Michael Best & Friedrich have entered appearances for Epic Systems Corp. in a pending employment discrimination lawsuit. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.

Greenberg Traurig shareholder Joshua L. Raskin has entered an appearance for boohoo.com UK Ltd. in a pending patent infringement lawsuit. The suit, filed Sept. 3 in Texas Eastern District Court by Rozier Hardt McDonough on behalf of Alto Dynamics, asserts five patents related to an online shopping platform. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap, is 2:24-cv-00719, Alto Dynamics, LLC v. boohoo.com UK Limited.
