As 2022 drew to a close, it’s safe to say that technology had secured a foothold in law firms, thanks to pandemic-driven pivots to support remote work, increasing demands from clients for greater efficiency and innovation, and more. Having long been accused of being late adopters when it comes to technological advancement, many law firms made notable progress in implementation and adoption.

Going forward, however, law firm tech might not look quite the same. Increasing economic pressures and the fear of an impending recession will have a significant impact on which tools firms select, what they expect of them and how they use them. The days of experimental spending and jumping on the latest trend are gone—at least for now.
