In the wake of all the attention focused on ChatGPT and other generative artificial intelligence programs in the past few months, law firms have been fielding a rush of questions from general counsel about AI.

While some companies, including JPMorgan Chase & Co. and the Bank of Ireland have banned the use of generative AI, others are anxiously trying to figure out how to use it in a smart way, said Mark O’Conor, global co-chair of the technology sector at DLA Piper.
