Legal Tech Startup Spellbook Raises $10.9 Million, With Thomson Reuters Investing
Previously called Rally Legal, Spellbook offers a generative AI-powered contract tool of the same name. As the company looks to scale, it hinted at a broader partnership with Thomson Reuters in the future.

On Wednesday, legal tech startup Rally Legal announced it has rebranded to Spellbook and secured a $10.9 million funding round, led by investment firm Moxxie Ventures and including Thomson Reuters and The Legaltech Fund, among others.
Spellbook is also the name of the generative AI-powered contract drafting and negotiation platform that Rally launched in 2022.
A press release announcing the rebranding and funding noted that Rally's broader product suite, which includes workflow automation and document generation offerings, will "be combined with Spellbook's AI to create a holistic, AI-driven legal management platform."

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays.
