The results of our poll are in: 62% of respondents are against imposing a pause on the training of advanced AI models, with 31% saying we should pause temporarily and 7% reporting being unsure. Notably, not a single respondent advocated for a permanent pause in the training of advanced AI models.

To quickly recap, in response to the boom in generative AI, one organization recently called for a six-month pause on the training of all AI models more powerful than GPT-4. We asked readers of LTN and across ALM what they thought. Notably, respondents in all camps noted the need for regulation, guardrails or other oversight to ensure proper AI usage.
