As quickly as new legal research startups come onto the scene, they seem to be lapped up by the few legacy companies that have long dominated the market.

For law firms big and small, this has led to an unavoidable reliance on one or two companies, causing concerns over unchecked costs, limited competition and a potential lack of transparency into how subscription prices are determined. Essentially, consumers may now be left with fewer affordable options than before, as some providers dominate the market.
