Remote and hybrid workforce models are here to stay. A Gartner forecast on knowledge workers estimates that by the end of 2023, 48% of knowledge workers around the world will work either fully remotely (9%) or in a hybrid arrangement (39%). In the U.S., fully remote and hybrid workers are expected to account for 71% of the workforce in 2023.

As law firms adjust to the new dynamics of a remote workforce, firm partners are facing critical decisions that will impact their future opportunities for growth and success. Firms mandating a return to full-time in-person work are experiencing a standoff with workers who advocate for remote work. Close to half of the youngest lawyers in an ABA survey said they’d leave their jobs for a greater ability to work remotely.
