On Monday, Hona, which offers case tracking solutions to help law firms automatically update their clients, announced that it raised $9.5 million in a series A round led by Costanoa Ventures with participation from Ludlow Ventures, Soma Capital and Y Combinator.

The startup, which also offers an AI chatbot named "Lia" and integrates with a number of case management systems, was founded in 2021 by Manny Griffiths and Matt McClellan, a former account executive and a former sales professional, respectively, at legal operating system Filevine.

A press release announcing the funding noted that the series A investment will "enable Hona to further enhance platform capabilities and expand its customer base."
