On Monday, LexisNexis announced that it has completed its acquisition of Belgian contract drafting startup Henchman. The legal research provider first announced an agreement to acquire Henchman, which provides generative AI-powered contract drafting and negotiation technology, in early June.

At the time, Lexis noted that it moved to acquire Henchman in response to customer demand for additional capabilities. "Now, we'll be able to address one of our legal customers' top requests—to have searchable internal firm and corporation data, combined with our drafting and AI offerings," Jeff Pfeifer, the chief product officer of LexisNexis, Canada, U.K. and U.S., told Legaltech News in a statement.

Lexis noted in June that that upon completion of the acquisition, it intended to integrate its proprietary Retrieval Augmented Generation 2.0 (RAG 2.0), leveraged in its generative artificial intelligence platform Lexis+ AI, into Henchman's technology.
