On Thursday, trademark and intellectual property docketing automation software provider Alt Legal announced that it acquired Denver-based WeberMark, a trademark paralegal services company. WeberMark helps organizations with a variety of trademark needs, from conducting trademark searches to preparing and filing documents or responses with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

With the acquisition, Alt Legal, which has docketing software and trademark and infringement monitoring products, will now launch an IP paralegal service called Alt Legal Assist. In addition, WeberMark's managing member and sole employee Amy Weber will also be joining the company.

Alt Legal CEO Nehal Madhani told Legaltech News that the acquisition was spurred by long-simmering client demand for a paralegal offering. "Since 2017, our customers have been asking us for help with paralegal services. Our docking software automates a lot of the docketing to identify marks depending on what deadlines are coming up, but you still actually have to take care of the deadline. You still have to address that deadline."
