Two months later, HBR joined a combined entity with intelligence provider LAC Group and legal technology and data consultancy Wilson Allen named HBR + LAC + Wilson, with support from their mutual investor, private equity firm Renovus Capital. By July, Renovus acquired Keesal Propulsion Labs (KP Labs), a standalone legal tech company launched by California law firm Keesal, Young & Logan in 2018, allowing HBR + LAC + Wilson to partner with the lab. By August, however, HBR + LAC + Wilson, Younts Consulting and software services company Aurora North, which Wilson Allen acquired in January, officially merged to form a new legal services company called Harbor. On Tuesday, professional and legal services company Harbor announced that it has acquired U.K.- based legal technology services provider Ascertus, which helps clients implement document and content management solutions such as iManage.
Harbor CEO Matt Sunderman told Legaltech News that the acquisition was motivated in large part by Harbor's desire to expand its global footprint. He explained that the company wants "to be able to provide global services to anything that we do. And a lot of what we were doing, pre-Ascertus, wasn't necessarily fulfilling that for our clients."
