Since Meta announced major changes to its content moderation guidelines in early January, users on its platforms can expect fewer restrictions on speech and a possible rise in defamation lawsuits, according to legal experts.
On January 7, Meta announced that it would be making some changes to content guidelines on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Some of these adjustments included ending third-party fact checking, limiting restrictions on political content, and allowing for more unfettered speech.
