My editor recently asked me — apparently based solely on the fact that I use a Gmail address — if I might start writing a column on technology. Now it’s true, I’m a bit of a gadget guy and the honorary (read: free) number two IT guy at my firm, but I would have never guessed that having a Gmail address was the indicator.

Still, as I write this I am sitting on a plane watching the Yankees beat the Twins on the tiny seat-back screen while listening to my iPod and typing on my laptop, so I guess you could say I’m pretty comfortable with digital overload.
