We all want to know what we can do — concretely — to reduce our “carbon footprint” to help the planet and future generations. Indeed, some tactics have become de rigueur in legal organizations. For example, we are regularly reminded by our IT and practice support departments that:

• We don’t need to print every e-mail we generate or receive (just create a folder in Outlook and drop it in for review). Many firms have programs that automatically archive e-mails after a certain period of time to free up space on their in-house network servers.
