I measured my available space — a little less than 36 inches — and checked to see what was available. I had no preset notions about brands or LCD v. plasma versus DLP, so I started doing a little online research. Most of what I read was simply not credible. I just didn’t trust most of the sites that collected rants and raves from “customers” — sort of like travel sites that collect comments from paid shills or attackers.
So, I went to sources that I liked and thought had some credibility: David Pogue and his colleagues in The New York Times, C/Net, and good old Consumer Reports. And I started to get an idea of what was out there.
