My mom taught me that successful fetes require a bit of theater: an inviting, comfortable setting; simple food, well prepared; and the right number of interesting people. Too few is awkward, too many becomes uncomfortable. Sharp got it just right on July 15, when president Ed McLaughlin invited local tech journalists to join them at the company’s Diamond View Club suite, for the Mets v. Phillies game.

Normally, I avoid vendor events where I could be, well, trapped for more than an hour (boat rides, etc.)
