I would say that one of my better skills is managing my calendar. If anything, I’m just a tad bit OCD. I had carefully scheduled my elbow/thumb surgery for June 25, right after the close of the July issue, assuming I would recover better from Dr. Mark Pruzansky’s latest handiwork if I spent the post-surgery week in the company of Beethoven — as in my annual week at the Berkshire Choral Festival — learning the alto part of Missa Solemnis.
Week two, I figured, would begin in N.Y. Superior Court, answering my July 7 summons for jury duty. Not a bad way to distract me from an awkward cast and no ability to type.
