The electronic reader market has exploded since Amazon’s Kindle first hit the market in 2007. Today, users have choices if they want to board a plane or train without pounds of books, music, magazines, and newspapers. Sony debuted its Reader in August 2009; Barnes & Noble introduced the nook three months later. Borders’ Kobo eReader launches July 2.
Then, of course, there’s Apple’s iPad, unveiled in April. Yes, yes — we know it’s not a mere “reader.” It offers far more, including a full web browser, and can run everything from e-mail to photo and calendar programs. And you can download Apple’s wildly popular apps.
