Valley lawyers are bracing for what could be a wave of work set off by Oracle’s decision to sue over what it claims is infringement of Java-related patents it acquired in its purchase of Sun Microsystems earlier this year.
On Thursday, Oracle’s legal team — David Boies of Boies, Schiller & Flexner and Michael Jacobs, of Morrison & Foerster — filed a complaint in federal court in San Jose, Calif., alleging that Google’s Android operating system for mobile devices infringed seven Java patents and related copyrights. It seeks unspecified damages and an injunction from a federal judge.
