We once joked that Sidley Austin occupied a very tiny niche: representing Microsoft as a plaintiff in IP suits. Until recently, the software giant’s appearances as an IP plaintiff were so rare that you could literally count them all on the fingers of one hand.

So when Microsoft goes on the IP offensive for the second time in six weeks, it’s news — particularly because both Microsoft suits are against the same defendant — Motorola.
