THERE’S BEEN much movement within the executive suite at Oregon’s Fios, but the latest CEO insists everything is just fine, thank you. William Lyons, chair of its board, added CEO to his title on Feb. 16, after president and CEO John Hesse abruptly left due to a “personal disagreement” with the board.
Fios’ top marketer Donna Peterson framed the departure with a positive spin, calling it “an orderly transition.” But no matter what pretty face Fios puts on it, the e-discovery company has had a lot of upheaval in the last three years, causing many to wonder about its future. You almost need a chart to follow the players. Hesse, who previously served as CFO/COO, replaced CEO Chris Junker in May 2010, who resigned after eight months “due to undisclosed personal reasons” (but remained on the board). Junker took the top spot after six-year CEO Gerald Massey left in 2009, “as part of a formal succession plan,” the company said.
