Patent suits filed in the Northern District of Texas may be funneled to a panel of judges if the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts approves the district’s March 18 application to participate in a pilot program.

A majority of the judges in the Eastern District of Texas, one of the most popular patent venues in the nation, also have applied to take part in the pilot program, H.R. 628, which Congress authorized and President Barack Obama signed into law on Jan. 4.
