It’s been four years since then-teenager Avery Doninger, of Burlington, Conn., lashed out at high school officials in a blog by calling them “douchebags.”

In response, the officials prevented the high school’s junior class secretary from running for re-election for her senior year. The decision didn’t sit well with Doninger or her mother, Lauren. So they filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking an injunction to allow Avery to run for the senior class office.
