Olympus announced the second generation of its Directrec series of stationary dictation devices in the DR-1200, DR-2200, and DR-2300 USB microphones. The new microphones offer lawyers exceptional audio reproduction in a frequency response from 100 Hz to 14 KHz with pulse code modulation recording, customization with five programmable buttons and a software development kit, and one-handed operation using either a slide-switch (DR-2200, DR-2300) or a button (DR-1200) to record.

If you use the Olympus DS-5000 or another mobile dictation device, you know the functionality of operating a dictation machine with one hand using a thumb-operated slide switch. But when you connect the mobile device to your computer and upload your recordings, you cannot use it as a computer microphone. With Directrec USB microphones, you will be able to bring the functionality of your mobile device and its slide-switch recording to your computer. Note that the new USB microphones will also support a track ball to operate the computer mouse, so you can dictate or mouse click from up to 98 inches, which is the length of the USB cable, from your PC or Mac.
