As December brings 2011 to a close, it’s a good time to reflect on what we have done well and not so well this year — and identify goals for 2012. This is an especially useful exercise for records managers, in-house counsel, and IT professionals. Too many organizations learn the hard way that effective records management is a necessity to reduce liability exposure and costs. So here are five New Year’s resolutions to help you get on the right track.
1 Update and enforce your records management protocols. Having the best written set of policies in the world does not help —and may actually cause more harm than good— if the policies are not properly implemented and a company’s technology is not updated to match the policy requirements.
