The battle of the Larrys has become the battle of the damages experts.
A few weeks ago, citing schedule conflicts, Judge William Alsup of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California pushed back the trial date in Oracle’s billion-dollar lawsuit accusing Google of copying its Java source code when it developed the Android operating system. But on Tuesday, Alsup issued an order on damages that could narrow the stakes for the planned 2012 trial and possibly reshape ongoing settlement efforts, which haven’t amounted to much despite a court order requiring Google CEO Larry Page and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison to attend mediation.
