Consultant Joseph Howie has joined Syngence Software as its chief legal technology strategist. Howie, based in Bartlesville, Okla., will focus on product development and communications for the e-discovery company, which is headquartered in Laguna Niguel, Calif. The company’s flagship product is SynthetixND, a near-duplicate clustering technology, says Howie. It also produces “S3,” aka Syngence Software Suite, that includes document management, workflow, search, and naviagtion tools that integrate with third-party litigation review programs. The company currently partners with LexisNexis (Concordance/Concordance FYI), kCura (Relativity), and iConect Development, according to its website.
Howie previously was the principal of Howie Consulting. A non-practicing attorney, Howie was a frequent contributor to Law Technology News and a member of its Editorial Advisory Board. He is a co-author with attorney Anne Kershaw, of the “Judges Guide to Cost-Effective E-Discovery,” produced by the E-Discovery Institute, where he served asdirector of metrics development and communications. He was a founder of the Association of Litigation Support Professionals, but is no longer active with that group.
