One of the nice things about web publishing is that you can change things up on a website relatively easily, then track what effect the changes had through web metrics analysis. Starting Thursday, we’re going to try some new features online. Odds are you’re reading these words at the top of the LTN Daily Alert or in the middle of the website’s homepage, places from which you can click through to the full “Daily Commentary” article. Soon you won’t see this opening paragraph in those spots. We’re removing it — just the introductory paragraph, not the commentary itself — to make room for some new features.

The commentary will be accessible from a clickable headline on the homepage and in the alert; on the homepage, taking away the commentary’s opening paragraph will make room for “The List” and “QuickPoll,” two at-a-glance windows on timely legal technology content that will link to more in-depth material on the site. Those features are scheduled to appear on the homepage sometime Thursday. In the alert, the commentary headline will appear along with clickable list and poll headlines between our top stories and news articles in the next few days.
