A new version of Symantec’s information governance software allows data to be managed based on the users responsible for it, known as custodians, and lays the groundwork for future integration with Clearwell e-discovery products.

The updated software, Data Insight 3.0, lets users assign data to specific owners and to IT staff in order to automate and simplify information tracking. That’s useful for situations such as determining data backup methods, minimizing duplicate records, and performing digital investigations, officials in Mountain View, Calif. noted.
