One of the great myths of off-the-shelf software is that law office productivity improves shortly after its installation. Although that might be the case for front-office applications like Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word, it not the case for a content management and collaboration platform like SharePoint 2010. In fact, experts like Mark Gerow, director of applications and business process at Fenwick & West, and software companies like KnowledgeLake are devoted to helping you get the most out of your SharePoint investment.

KnowledgeLake calls itself a “SharePoint ECM company.” It has a number of products that work with SharePoint, including: Imaging for SharePoint, which allows you to scan, index, and store documents in SharePoint libraries, as well as view and edit SharePoint documents (e.g., Office, PDF, and TIFF documents) in a web browser; Capture for SharePoint, which allows you to scan high volumes of documents into SharePoint as searchable PDF, PDF, PDF/A, or TIFF; and WorkFlow for SharePoint, which allows you to attach business processes to documents stored in SharePoint. KnowledgeLake’s latest product, Unify, provides integration between a front-office application like Outlook and SharePoint.
