Columbia, Md.-based workspace management provider triCerat has released the RC (Release Candidate) version of its new Scanect remote scanning software, which supports scanning operations in Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop as well as Microsoft RDS and VMware environments.

Scanect software is compatible with scanning protocols TWAIN and WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) and capable of directing scan input and output to a variety of scanning devices such as all-in-one, multifunction printers and stand-alone scanners from multiple vendors. Scanect software queries local scanners for features and capabilities, including automatic document feeders, output resolutions, supported paper sizes, etc., to configure and deliver jobs to scanners. The scanned output is then delivered to the server managing the virtual desktop. The output is then virtualized on the server or desktop for review.
