When I was a little kid in this industry, I looked up to a lot of people, not necessarily older than me, but more seasoned. Now that I’m a big kid and have been playing well with others in the legal IT sandbox, I find myself in the company of some of these industry giants. We’ve all changed, not only in our experiences in the growth of technology, but also in our own IT legal careers. I’ve often said that it’s not the end result that matters, it’s the journey. As Indiana Jones said in Raiders of the Lost Ark, “It’s not the age, it’s the mileage.”

At the upcoming International Legal Technology Association Conference, which will be held August 26-31 in Washington, D.C. (at the Gaylord National hotel), several legal technologists who have recently changed employers will share their stories. The 90-minute panel,  “Reassessing Your Calling to Redesign Your Career,” will be offered Wednesday, August 29, at 11 a.m. The fast-paced program is modeled on the TED Conferences, with intense, short presentations, and  will be moderated by Monica Bay, editor-in-chief of ALM’s Law Technology News magazine. Each speaker will have a “tag line” capturing his or her theme.
