In the latest move toward low-cost e-discovery products, TotalDiscovery.com is eliminating fees from its legal hold service, officials of parent company Business Intelligence Associates Inc. announced Thursday.

The software, which debuted in October 2011, is intended for use in small cases. On the surface, it was already inexpensive — free for one month, and then $3 per month for each custodian — but some customers were spending several thousand dollars per month on it, BIA president Brian Schrader said.
