Santa Clara, Calif.-based Silver Peak Systems, a data transmission and acceleration software provider, introduced a point-and-click means to accelerate individual workloads directly from VMware vCenter and other virtual infrastructure management consoles. The point-and-click mechanism is part of Silver Peak’s new “Agility” technology initiative aimed at improving an application owner’s experience through virtual workload acceleration defined in software not hardware.
According to Silver Peak, when law firms extend workloads beyond a single data center into a wide area network, or WAN, the firms must contend with the adverse effects of latency, congestion, and limited network capacity — all of which can significantly impair application performance over WAN links. Silver Peak’s Virtual Acceleration Open Architecture (VXOA) software is designed to overcome these challenges.
