Chelmsford, Mass.-based legal security company Biscom has added features to its free iPad app, which integrates with Biscom’s Secure Workspaces supplied by Biscom Delivery Server. When the app was introduced in January 2012, it was limited to securely sending documents via the iPad. The updated version now gives your iPad direct access to a Biscom Secure Workspace, which operates like a Dropbox folder but on the law firm’s network. This improvement now lets you work collaboratively with other members of your firm no matter where you are, without worrying about such vulnerabilities as data breaches and the violation of privacy laws or government regulations.

The Biscom Delivery Server iPad app is a free download, but your ability to access aspects of the Biscom secure ecosystem depends on whether you have “Viewer” or “Collaborator” role. Viewers may download files from Secure Workspace without a Biscom Sender license. Collaborators, who may upload and download files from Secure Workspace, must have a Biscom Sender License. The minimum cost for this perpetual license is $3,300 for 10 senders, which includes first-year maintenance.
