The International Legal Technology Association annual meeting near Washington, D.C., featured on Wednesday a session designed to “Reassess Your Calling to Redesign Your Career.” Monica Bay, editor-in-chief of Law Technology News magazine, moderated a TED-style discussion among technology leaders who have made major career changes over the past year, including moves to new law firms and consulting agencies.

There was more than a century of collected experience among the panelists in the Maryland C hall of the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, and it was focused on helping attendees better approach career change. Sally Gonzalez, global CIO at SNR Denton started off the TED talks. Gonzalez, with over 26 years of experience bringing business and IT together in the planning and implementation of technology, says to do a “gut check” when presented with an opportunity for career change. And if you decide to embrace change and a new position, make sure you “always move toward something,” says Gonzalez.
