CRU-DataPort, a provider of data security and storage devices headquartered in Vancouver, Wash., recently announced the company’s new Wiebe Tech Forensic ComboDock v5, a forensic device that enables write-blocking to be turned on and off for interconnected storage devices. The new forensic device aims to give legal professionals a secure option to enage write-blocking and read-write capabilities in forensic collections while preventing accidental corruption of data and physical hard drives.

The Forensic ComboDock comes in a rugged aluminum enclosure and allows forensic acquisition and analysis software to pass through to the host device, which can be a bare SATA or PATA drive. The ComboDock has two power options. The dock can also work with interconnected USB 3.0, FireWire 800, and eSATA drives. The device sports an LCD screen and menu system that makes it easy to view drive information and warning messages.
